Document Summary

According to the national institute of allergy and infectious disease, aids is caused by the. Hiv virus that targets cd4+-t cells, preventing the immune system to defend against infectious diseases. Aids originated as a type of virus most commonly found in african monkeys and apes, and then later mutated in humans as a result of animal hunting. Hiv suddenly appeared around the 1960s in african communities and was left undetected until years later due to the fact that the symptoms of aids do not become apparent until years later. Currently, at least 37 million people are living with aids. Despite this alarming number, scientists have developed drugs that have proven to target certain stages of the hiv virus and reduce its possibility to mutate in humans. However, the best method to combat aids would be to create a vaccine, as vaccines have been proven to be the most effective approach to increase immunization for diseases.
