Another culture may see it as an affliction. Medical anthropologists define disease as a malfunctioning biologic process. Illness however is a personal or cultural reaction to disease or discomfort. Local cultural interpretation viewing illness without a physiologic cause. Cure illness by limiting foods or giving abdominal massages. Ritual practices people undergo to avoid illness. The diagnosis and treatment of illness and the use of health services.
