Primary reason girls leave to join gangs is because of a dysfunctional home. There is a greater risk for them to be victimized by violence. Gang initiations can include rape after prospecting time. Can either get sexed in or jumped in. When they join gangs, they are at greater risk for sexual or physical assault. Higher risk to unsafe sex, sexual abuse, teen pregnancy, substance abuse and suicide. Girls get addicted to drugs more frequently than guys. Girls look at violence differently than men do because they process info differently. Girls look at gang violence differently than men. They are a small percentage of the gang population. Girls are getting more involved in gang activity than before. Females are being incarcerated in state prison at a higher rate than males. Now they go to prison because of violent gun crimes. Getting involved in decoys for home robberies, cash fraudulent checks and credit cards.
