Societies all have a dominant culture and subcultures underneath. Folkways: if you violate them it"s not a big deal. But if you use a plastic fork and knife, no one will call the police, it"s ok. Mores: (with the s moh-rays is the plural, think of more a"s on your transcript) unwritten rule you should not violate. Not against the law, just that you should not violate it because it"ll upset people. Males get socially punished if they wear female clothing outside of halloween, etc.
