Totalitarian regimes want to control hearts and minds . Try to reshape society and force principles. Capitalism leads to the exploitation of the workers by the wealthy elites. Extreme form of nationalism that glorifies the nation"s mythical history. Idea that some races are superior and would inevitably conquer the weaker ones. Publicly demonstrate their support for the regime. If people don"t show support for the regime they could lose their job, and be scared for their security. Totalitarian regimes minimize social and political pluralism. Two tools used to eliminate social and political pluralism: Strong charismatic linkages between the leader and the masses. An example of totalitarian regime: nazi germany (1933-1945)
