Primary field methods = ethnography and participant observation. Linguistic anthropology - the study of construction, use, and form of language in human populations; including relationships between languages, syntax, grammar, etc. Language: set of written or spoken symbols that refer to things other than themselves (symbolic communication) Sociolinguistics - the science of investigating language"s social contexts. Archaeology - the study of historic and prehistoric human populations through the analysis of material remains.
