The main subject of the doors is the new testament. The commissioners asked ghiberti to design the east doors as well, but this time, he was given full control of how the doors should be. He used 10 panels instead of 28 and focused on the old. Each panel had a scene that could be placed into three separate panels. These doors were also called the (cid:862)gates of paradise(cid:863). Donatello was commissioned by the guild of linen.
