Please I need help with this:
This is quantitative chemistry and we are talking about thekjeldahl process.
Now we are trying to find the composition of the solution (givenabove) at equilibrium by using the maple computer program. I havemy dissociation as NH4>>>>NH3+ H where NH4 is F1+x, NH3is F2-x and H is FH+x. Also I have the dissociation of H2O asH2O>>>>>> H(aq) + OH(aq) where H2O is a=1, H isFH+X+W, and finally OH is FOH+W. Also I have Ka= 5.69X10^-10=KNH4and Kw= 1.01X10^-14. so the goal is to solve for x and w then basedon that we need to find the concentration of each species. allthese need to be plug into to maple. the formulas I have to put inmaple are: K1 := (FH-x+w)*(F2-x)/(F1+X) = KNH and K2 :=(FH-x+w)*(FOH+w) = Kcw and then I have to do eqns := {K1, K2}, thenSolve(eqns); but it's here where my entire answer doesn't makesense, the answer looks like this:
Solve({(-x+w)*w = 1.010000000*10^(-14),(-x+w)*(0.7210000000e-5-x)/X = 5.690000000*10^(-10)}) and I knowfor sure that my w cannot be equal that.....
