Carl rogers was born in 1902 in illinois. He was raised in a warm and close family home. He received his doctorate degree from columbia university in 1928 and established a counseling center at the university of chicago. His famous book client centered therapy was published in 1951. He introduced and practiced this method of therapy all his life. He died at the age of 85 in 1987. Rogers" psychology starts and ends with subjective experiences of a person, which is the basis of all individual"s judgment and behavior. He stresses subjective (personal) experiences of a person referred to as the phenomenological world, the inner reality and what happens to a person at a particular time. The inner motivation within each of us is called the self-actualizing tendency, a drive towards fulfillment of our potentials that enables us to maintain and enhance ourselves. It is a tendency in each of us to grow, to seek new and varies experiences.
