Cases where the difference between words is made because of prosodic difference, such as the one in juncture discussed in the book. There is a whole lists of word pairs in english, based on the difference in which syllable gets the stress. There is also a difference in vowel quality because of centralization in english, but think of noun-verb pairs like:
