Fossil fuels = typically composed of compounds containing hydrogen and carbon atoms. Process of burning fossil fuels always results in co 2 being emitted into the atmosphere. Ch 4 + 2o 2 co 2 + 2h 2 o by-products = water and carbon dioxide. Cement production = also carbon source to the atmosphere (though fossil fuel emissions are 20x larger) Carbon emissions have increased steadily since the beginning of the industrial era .
