In school we only talk about the missions (4th grade) Why, if people have lived indigenous people for thousands of years. We aren"t exactly sure how long the native americans been here. Northwest coast complex, northern ca to alaska. Direct contact with all the indians to the north. East of california are in the great basin. Sierra nevada and rocky mountains, great salt lake. Leads to colorado river and colombia plato/river. Great basin contact with the indians from the plains.
