ANTHRO 114R Lecture Notes - Lecture 22: Johan Reinhard, Capacocha
Document Summary
13 yrs ago stumbled on evidence about these myths. Never got the chance to explore those platforms. Hara hara lays in one of the most dangerous parts of peru. Peru is more peaceful now and he has returned. Incas belived their were spirits in nature; the ones in the mountain being the most powerful. Spanish records have most of what we know about the inka. Larger than roman empire and only took 100 yrs to build. Their sense of warfare and conquering is diff than ours. They saw it as conquering their temples not armies. The mountain was already worshiped before the inka. The chroniclers made the inka seen as peagans. The capacocha was made seen as one of the worst and most bloody sacrifices. The frozen boy was found with many adornments. They boy also seems to have had a peaceful death which contradicts the bloody image the spanish portray.
