Architecture always has to negotiate between realism and abstraction territory and abstraction. There"s a relationship between sizes of things and our abstract idea of how things fit together. Can"t put a toilet inside of a space. Must have dimensions so that you can stand in front of it. Human body needs to configure the space of all of architecture. Governs a unity of a body with relationship to the parts. Can"t just chop up the body and recompose it. Metaphor for architecture that architecture has parts, independent of a body. Can judge the building as beautiful as a whole.
