Exclusion from the pond: poverty and hunger, 15 million kids live in poverty, less than 116 million kids struggle with hunger, latinos live in poverty = 12. 4 million, 33. 1% of latino children live in poverty, education. 8% of low income students graduate college vs. 87% of students from affluent communities will graduate by the age of 24: chicano education pipeline. Out of 100 chicano students only 8 will graduate from college, 2 will earn a graduate degree, and less than 1 will earn a doctorate degree. As degree becomes higher, the number of chicano students decrease: healthcare. Post affordable care act was passed and there are still 30 million people uninsured. 51% of uninsured in california are not proficient in the english language: latinos and medical profession.
