Damage to wernicke"s area on the temporal lobe (thoughts are analyzed) (speech seems fluent but doesn"t make sense: n. s. : excitation (neuron activity increases) and inhibition (activity decreases) Modulation, there are some neurons that make excitation/inhibition : descent with modification, higher levels of the nervous system are newer in an evolutionary standpoint (cerebral cortex controls lower centers in the brain, ex. Limbic system: phineas gage, brain systems are organized both hierarchically and in parallel, functions in the brain are localized and distributed over multiple areas of the brain. In einstein"s brain there were more glial cells than neurons: gyri were bigger than avg, his hemispheres were a lot more interconnected (corpus callosum was much larger despite having a smaller brain)
