You need a concrete task in order to quantify the ability of attending . Cocktail party problem = how do you attend to different streams of input. Late selectionism = no filter; you processed everything but just *forgot* (inattentional amnesia) Inattentional amnesia test with fmri (functional magnetic resonance imaging) fmri- your brain has different tissues with different properties. High resolution of the brain takes about 10~15 minutes. Brain is 2% of body mass but uses 20% of oxygen levels. Non-invasive method: don"t have to open up the head.
