Its a complex trait -- common, multi-genie disorders tat are in uenced by the environment. And simple mandelian traits are considered to be rare, single-gene disorders. Trait is a genetic de nition, relates to speci c characteristics of an organism. Homosexuality was a disease until 1973, then a trait b. c. Freud (dominant mother, absent father, disruption of oedipal phase exit, etc. ) Psychological theories: empirical evidence (bell, weinberg, hammersmith, 1981) - homosexuality is not caused by parents or sexual past. Straight men and gay men have the same amount of testosterone. Hormonal manipulations have never changed sexual partner preference alone. Hormonal manipulations are far beyond physiologically occurring variations. Women with cah exposed to high levels of testosterone during fetal life, as they grow up there is an increased likelihood of homosexuality and gender nonconformity and masculine occupations.
