Document Summary

Time of day and time of year = changing the flux density of solar radiation received because they influence the path length of solar beam. Time of day = longest near sunrise and sunset, shortest near noon. Time of year = shortest at summer solstice, longest at winter solstice. Important at high lat and during winter (long path lengths) before sunrise and after sunset. Long wave radiation = energy emitted at longer wavelengths by cooler bodies: ex: earth"s surface and that of other planets in our solar system, quantity, some gases remove/absorb some wavelengths of solar energy, ozone, oxygen remove uv radiation. Involve actual movement of air and it"s properties from one place to another. The most effective form of transfer and mixing in atmosphere: eddies, thermals. Latent and sensible heat = transferred by convection. Latent heat is only transferred by convection, sensible heat can be transferred via convection or conduction: conduction = occurs via collision of molecules.
