Music history 5: history of rock and roll. Decrescendo- getting quieter: texture (how the performing forces are arranged) Monophony (everyone is playing the same thing at the same time ex. Polyphony (more than one melody at a time) Homophony (when you hear at least three sounds at a given time are moving at the same pace/same time, and you can not pick out one sound to be more important than any other) Rhythm (how music moves through time: tempo (speed, beat (the basic unit of rhythm)- clapping with hbd song, meter (how beats are organized into repeating patterns of strong and weak beats) emphasis = strong. Duple (one strong beat and one weak beat) Triple: syncopation (when the music diverges from the pattern that one might expect- the strong beat is sometimes not in line with the melody)- the ohh i didn"t see that coming . We build this through external influences, experiences, ambitions.
