Courage: city courage does not equal the individuals having courage, city courage is dictated by the ruler"s instructions on what is to be feared by the individuals in the city. This is not the case for the courageous city or the wise city. Justice: socrates ca(cid:374)"t fi(cid:374)d justice easily, so he begins to ponder the following: This is city is good at being a city. Meaning that people in the city are doing their specific jobs. This is therefore the virtue of the city as cities are meant to be good at specialization and coordination. The rulers are apt to control the auxiliaries and the producers. The producers are apt to do their jobs and they are apt to be ruled by the rulers and instructed by the auxiliaries. The auxiliaries are apt to take instruction from the rulers and lead the producers. Socrates is tasked with proving that the soul has parts.
