Cognition in humans and rats: similar, restaurants road task. A circle with four arms: study the preferences of mice, they can"t come back, a ring neuron associated with regret, reverse learning tasks. Psychological disorders: patterns of thoughts, feelings or actions that are deviant, distressful, and dysfunctional. Distressful: causes physical or psychological harm to self or others. Patterns: collections of symptoms, tend to go together. Must also persist for certain amount of time: dsm-5: diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders. Stimulate research: symptoms and treatment for di erent disorders sometimes overlap. Ptsd: repeated intrusive recall of those memories, nightmares and other re-experiencing, social withdrawal or phobic avoidance, jumpy anxiety or hypervigilance, insomnia/sleep problems. Elevated plus maze: study the time anxious mice and normal mice stay on the open and close arm. Brain regions involved in anxiety: amygdala: emotion, septum: reward experience, hippocampus: memory, prefrontal cortex: calm down.
