PSYCH 10 Lecture Notes - Lecture 17: Lightning, Operant Conditioning, Little Albert Experiment
Document Summary
Psych10: intro to psychology- lecture 17: basic learning concepts and classical. How does learning happen other than through language/ words: experience, predicting events we already like or don"t like by noticing other events or sensations that happen first, when our actions have consequences, watching others. When two events or sensations tend to occur together or in a sequence. 1: after repeated exposure to two stimuli occurring in sequence, we associate those. Classical conditioning: our natural response to one stimulus now can be triggered by the new, stimuli with each other predictive stimulus. 3: observing events and the behavior of others, using language to acquire information about events experienced by others. Ivan pavlov"s discovery: studied dogs, salvation from eating food was eventually triggered by neutral stimuli such as, seeing food, seeing the dish, seeing person bring food. Neutral stimulus: a stimulus which does not trigger a response.
