Microsociologists : analysis of fine grained social phenomena (e. g. individuals and their interactions) Macroside: states, classes, forms of authority, religion, transition to capitalism. Microside: methodology of verstehen (understand-chair example)-interpretative understanding is thorough. Social action: action that is oriented or takes account of the actions of others-social context. How do we know what"s real: we know through experience, we experience consciousness and lifeworld. Lifeworld: more micro than habermas, but same ideal. Natural attitude, taken for granted: critique of naturalistic empiricism, husserl (cid:862)any scientific method is useless to study experience(cid:863) because we have different consciousness, conclusion: only a philosophical phenomenology is possible. Schutts, alfred (1899-1959): combines husserl and weber uses verstehen methodology to study experience. Weber"s value-free sociology not concerned with any normative evaluation. Schutt"s reading (farganis) this uses the outline from the reading: content of experience and thought objects. All knowledge of the world involves constructs (always interpreted facts) Constructs of thought in common-sense thinking (everyday life)
