Parts include individuals, dyads, triads, networks, organizations, institutions, societies, global system there exists some sort of hierarchy in our society. 1: individuals - the atoms of the social structure (most basic level) Everything at a larger level, is made up of individuals individuals are the beginning point for structures. Social atom: you are surrounded both others (friends, family, acquaintances) that revolve around the individual. Common sense, academia, philosophy, etc. focus very much on the individual without going very far beyond the individual level but sociology differs in that we build on top of the individual as a way to understand society. Ex. you can choose certain courses you can choose a certain major .
