Document Summary

Gene flow- situation where we see alleles travel between populations. Gene flow- random, keeps populations similar to each other. If gene flow gets disrupted for a long amount of time, this is called speciation. Endogamous- diverging allele frequencies and mutations: patrilocal- wife moves in with hubby, matrilocal- hubby moves in with wife. Gene flow barriers- physical barriers such as mountain ranges, deserts, etc. Homo sapiens: originally evolved 200ka east of africa, 70-80ka- some groups leave africa, 40ka- humans are all over asia, in australia. Also in europe, just not all over it: 18-15ka- humans enter the new world. 40ka- humans live in multi- environments: hot arid, cold arid, hot wet, cold and wet, high altitudes, deserts, temperate. Micro- evolution of humans= natural selection for environments. Race is a way of trying to understand how humans differ throughout the world. Typological- looking for types of people: 3 main groups of people.
