Decoding is the interpretation of information from received sensations from previous experiences. Positive relationship between children"s ability to identify facial expressions and mothers" ability to pose facial expressions. Abused children are found to not produce as clear of facial expressions and perform more poorly on emotion identification. If the child is always told no without reason, then they begin to feel guilt.
