Document Summary

Bugs = microorganisms (in the context of this topic) Living organisms when conferred in sufficient amount on the host, will render beneficial effects on health. 10% of a person"s body weight is bacteria. First line of defense for immune system. Add to the process of digesting foods besides the enzymes that we produce. Regulate the balance of microflora in your gut. Probiotics provided in fermented foods such as bread, yogurt, probiotic supplements, etc. The alcohol is toxic to the probiotics - therefore killing them and making less available when the time comes to drink it. 100 trillion microbial cells on/in human body: mouth, intestine, vagina, skin. 10x the number of human cells in our bodies. 200 g of microbes in skin, 20 g in vagina, 20 g in mouth, and 10 g in nose. Human microbiome consist of 1,000,000+ genes whereas the human genome consists of 23,000 genes. We don"t technically call it fermentation, but digestion instead.
