Substitution of one set of cultural traditions by another. Degrading those who fail to acculturate and rewarding those who do. Usurpation of power to define local tradition. Spatial and cultural isolation is very rare today. Age-area principle: as ideas spread, oldest ideas are farthest from the center. Technology has changed the way people communicate. Roads, ships, and railroads quickened movement of ideas between countries. Localization: translation of content into other languages.
