GSCI 1050 Lecture Notes - Lecture 5: Unconformity, Sedimentary Rock, Cross-Bedding
Document Summary
A complex reaction chamber where has liquids, organic matter and minerals react. Erosion on land, lead to deposition in sea. Soils take 100s to 1,000s of years to form. Salt in the ocean comes from rocks on land. Rain falls on land contains dissolved co2 from the surrounding air. Sedimentary rock, black lines are cross beds (sedimentary structure that allows us to infer environment which rock formed in) Directions on black lines are separated and lines change orientation, this change is a disconformity it is a gap in time. Formed in a delta or something close to the water. Bunch of sand that is turned into rock. It is more mature so it is made from quartz.
