Disenfranchised grief: grief that"s not widely recognized in society. Older people who lose spouse- people think that it"s natural and not as difficult. Same-sex partner loss due to lack of support. Adaptation: individual aware of and recognizes effects. What are some physical and social effects of bereavement. Physical: decreased immune system due to stress. Social effects: decrease social status, leads to isolation. Constant support of family and friends so our needs to belong.
