Failure to resolve crisis-guilt-feeling like you have failed to live up to your own standards. What is being communicated by the use of the term. Kids are being socialized to what they should do. Begin to identify according to gender, what society determines as success and begin to evaluate themselves and how they measure up. Our responsibility to provide kids with working models to be successful. If we set shoulds and expectations too high kids will inevitably feel like failures. Identification all focuses on models given, how we emulate the should. Approaching childhood with different attitudes and expectations than a kid who is inhibited.
