Pontecorvo was asked to smuggle documents to italy in st. tropez. Pontecorvo wouldn"t be able to make films the way they are if it was not for politics. He loved epic cinema and thought music was fundamental. In fact, he had an idea about what kind of music he would want included in his films, but he would have rather been a composer. Bruno was a young physicist and was close with gillo because they bonded over their love of music. Pontecorvo thought of battle of algiers because he wanted to shoot something realistic.
