Phase 3: statewide survey: knowledge about attitudes toward black bears across varying levels of human- black bear conflict. In january through april, birdfeeders are targeted: from june going forward, trashcans were targeted. Hotspot analysis of trashcan conflict and birdfeeder conflict shows conflicts are concentrated in the same general areas, with differences. Birdfeeder conflicts spread throughout the state, while trashcan conflicts only occur in the western half of the state. Conclusions: 2/3 of reported conflicts related to trash storage and bird feeders, of conflicts occur from may-july, trash can and bird feeder conflicts distributed differently across the state.
