Document Summary

You need to be reading labels in order to see what you are actually eating. If it"s fat or sugar free it also probably has additional sugar or fat. Previously a group of nutritional scientists came together and made the daily recommended values based solely on opinion. It was not based on science or research. Caloric needs are generally accurate, but percentages after that should be questioned, they are based on theory. In america we do not have any nutritional deficit that leads to disease (average american). Our diets are typically balanced and therefore we get the necessary nutrients. Prescription and over-the-counter medication is inspected, but food supplements are not. Recent studies show that there is actually harm from taking multivitamins rather than good. None of us are nutritionally deprived and require the multivitamins that are pushed on us. The other ingredients (colorings, bindings, fillers, etc. ) remain in the system and circulates in the body.
