A hypothesis is s statement that explains or makes generalizations about a set of facts or principles, using forming a basis for for possible experiments to confirm its variability. Simple reaction time: is the time it takes to respond to a stimulus when there is only one possible response. Choice reaction time: time it takes to respond to a stimulus when there are multiple responses from which to choose from. Independent variable (iv): the variable that is manipulated to observe it"s relationship with some other variable. Dependent variable (dv): the event that is studied and expected to change when the independent variable is changed. Confounding variable: an extraneous variable which can influence the results of an experiment by interacting with the iv or dv, but is not one of the variables of interest. You must be able to control for this. A control group is a standard of comparison for checking or verifying the results of an experiment.
