Theory: campaign for birth control began with voluntary motherhood . After birth control came call for legal and easily accessible abortions: birth control = individual choice, safe contraception method. Fundamental prereq for emancipation of women: women have rights to privacy, women of color saw birth control as a means of genocide. Poc and other minorities demand and claim rights that have been systematically denied. Get assumption that black people are violent but does not get into the actual issue at hand. Ability to have sex when you want to: having affordable, accessible contraception. Being able to control body no matter the age. Punishment for sex is pregnancy: only sluts have premarital sex; if married, you should be having babies. Bottom line: don"t have sex or you will be punished by getting pregnant: emergency contraception (aka morning after pill) is not abortion.
