Two lives within one body birth is the process by which they become two. Women recall events & what was said more than 20 years later. Positive birth experiences improved maternal child attachment decreased risk for post partum depression improved sense of maternal confidence. History of abuse affects likelihood of traumatic birthing. Women give birth in many ways, they make multiple choices and others make choices for them but it all matters . just not always in the same way . one birth model does not fit all. Birth as illness needing medical attention, monitoring and often surgery. Justifies surgery/interventions as better for the health . Fulfilling both wrt process of labor and birth. Cesarean births have risen to a level of 32%, up from 10-15% in the mid 1980"s. Turkey, mexico, italy, south korea, poland and us have most casearean sections over all other countries. Expectations are driven by the paradigm women have about birth.
