CLASS 40 Lecture 9: Current Political Environment Influences Choice in Major

In light of the current political environment, students are being influenced in their interest and choice in being political science majors. Since the election of president donald trump on november 8, 2016, some students have become more involved in national politics, changing their perspective on what to study. When asked why she switched to be a political science major, oriana lazar, a fourth-year student, explained politics heavily influenced her personally and pushed her become more involved. As an immigrant, i have seen how politics has played into my life, personally and how policy can directly impact mine or my family"s life. So i want to get involved in government one day and be a part of that change for the better she said. Recent changes in policy and in the political climate as a whole has reassured lazar in her decision to pursue political science as a major and as a career.
