Rate of child suicide is extremely high in comparison to other countries. 18-28 year olds are the most susceptible to suicide globally. However, japanese children begin committing suicide at a much younger age. Generational alienation = parent generation is no longer connected with millennials. Children killed other children frequently, and parents could not grasp why. Stems from being afraid of getting bullied by other children. 1890s-1940s: aiming at overpopulation 1980s-today: battling the low brithrate. The low birth/mortality rate is one of the effects of bullying/child suicide. Japan has a similar structure to that of northern europe due to its historical ties with them.
