Introduction to the 19th Century

Beethoven’s early period

-wasn’t recognized right away
-some kind of idea where Beethoven becomes Mozart took place
-engages with specific works by Haydn and Mozart rather than by genre

Vienna
-travels in 1792 to study with Haydn
-first trip was actually in 1787
