Financially dependent on nobility: 1798 deaf, personal distress. 55, "eroica: 1803 - 1804, dedicate: prince joseph franz lobkowitz. 3, "eroica", movement 1: seen as unusual / anomalous. Starts off normally, detours quickly and runs into conflicts. 3, "eroica", movement 4: theme and variations , ending -- unheard of at the time, with a twist, variations on a "fake" theme before actual theme is introduced. "eroica" symphony is an interesting case study on viennese musical life at time.
