Just as anyone can develop a physical disorder, anyone can have a mental disorder. Mental disorders, like physical disorders, tend to run in families. In many families, mental disorders are - wrongly - a source of shame and embarrassment. They are not a sign of weakness or moral failure. Many mental disorders are actually physical disorders: they are disturbances in brain functioning.
