Document Summary

3 4 months after 1st treatment ends, people should be tested again: sexually active females should be tested every year up to age 24, and at doctor"s discretion after 24, danger to newborns, eye infections, pneumonia, can cause eye infections at any age, should encourage partner to get tested. 1st outbreak occurs six weeks to 8 months after infection: can lie dormant for years, body fights off hpv, very difficult to control (20% of people) causing much grief, treatments, chemicals, freezing, laser surgery, people can have persistent hpv & be contagious even if warts are in remission. If doctor finds no warts 6 months later, person is probably not spreading disease: a vaccine against hpv gives almost 100% protection, gardasil=100% free, from 11 12 years 26 years old, best when given before sexually active, pearly penile papules, not std, lots of people freak out.
