Indians had to be civilized or exterminated for whites and indians to live peacefully vote and elect people to city councils and mayorships and policemen; rescinded in 1952. Jackie robinson: seen as a hero by blacks and jews, overcame the forces of bigotry and ignorance during the civil rights movement. Jeferson: hope for conformity in america, where everyone would speak the same language, same govt, same laws. Roosevelt: forced to desegregate the army, refused jewish sanctuary, ordered japanese internment. Immigraion act of 1965: allowed entry of asian immigrants again.
