All our ideas about hegemony come from the master narrative and systems of power that influence this master narrative. Systems of power include politics, media, etc. Falling into paths of least resistance by forgetting to contradict the master narrative. Controversy over adichie"s comments about transgender women and male privilege. She fails to equate the experiences of trans women with the experiences of women because men grow up with experiences of privilege that women do not. My femininity did not make me feel privileged. She was a victim of gender politics. There is no universal experience is womanhood, to suggest that would be non-intersectional. Privilege is not defined only by gender. You will be asked to use a doc concept to analyse material from the second half of the course. Studying for the ids and the essay are related. Think about which doc concepts cut across the course material.
