Think of diaspora- the movement of people & your consciousness can move as well to fit the instability shift along parameters. Ethnic identity as a self/group construction & performance -> ethnic identity can. Challenges the museumization approach of the immigrant generalization. Ethnic identity feels like objects we can move around and admire. Both readings emphasize the constant negotiation of those feeling like they"re in between identities. Does not account for dynamics of power that govern identity formation especially consider the conditions of nationalism and the legacies of colonialism. Identities are not singular, they overlap to create life experiences, how we negotiate identity and how we choose to politicize ourselves.
