Eunuchs, scholars, and concubines: palace intrigues of the han dynasty. Defeats xiang yu to become gaozu (supreme one) emperor. Reduces corvee (work for emperor for a certain period), requirements, taxes, harsh punishments: emphasized confucianism. Rewarded supporters against qin with hereditary fiefdoms: did not want to look like the qin. Kings replaces with family members: positions are more symbolic.
