Said to be a cure for the black death. The people who ate rhubarb were the ones who survived. Rhubarb could and would actually help with bacterial infections. Affected china, the near east, and the middle east. Happened much earlier in china than in elsewhere (source?) Climatic changes (disrupts agriculture people die) The bacterium that causes the black plague. People thought it was a demon that choked you out. People had no concept of bacteria and germs at this time, so all sickness and death was the work of supernatural forces. Long version, include recurrences before it tapers off. The bubonic plague is still here today, last big case was in. Caused global demographic crisis ( - of the population dies) People thought that the plague was airborne. Something in the air or water was bringing it (a miasma) The words used in the islamic world for the plague.
