Thomas malthus: malthusian theory- population will increase in proportion to resources available- will stop when hits malthusian crunch until proportions can be balanced again. Artisans put put raw materials and people would manufacture w/in homes. Mechanizing of factory work means paying less wages; same with ag. Spinning jenny: not expensive- did a thing. British factory acts: after labor extracted from poor children some factory legislation was passed. Act 1833: children under 9 couldn"t work; had to attend school >2hrs a day.
